Unlimited winDshield wiper fluid

I hate refilling wiper fluid. It's dangerous to run out too. I had the idea to collect rain water in a small tank (3 liters or so). This tank is constantly refilled by rain water that runs through a filter connected to the gutter system that cars have between the hood and windshield. In a second removable tank there is super-concentrated soap. Think inkjet container that snaps into a receptacle under the hood. The concentrate tank would be relatively small, maybe a liter or so and would be bought off the shelf at your local auto parts store. When the driver needs to spray the 2 are combined using the impellor of the pumps that already exist.

I was thinking of running some piping through the water tank to heat it during the winter to keep it from freezing...
evilpenguin, Jan 05 2016

This is very desirable, except that the soap tank should be large enough to last the car's lifetime. Double its size if you live in Seattle. The car must be rendered invalid when the soap tank is empty.

For marketing purposes, gradually decrease the soap tank's size until average car lifetime is down to 13 months. At least this is the model the european tire suppliers have been following until we have no valid insurance unless our cars were fitted with new tires within the last two weeks.

       So, no Linux version?

       soap? I recommend vodka.

You can condense pretty pure water from the exhaust. This gets around the rather inconvenient lack of rain in many of the dustier regions.

Nertz! that link is very close to my idea.

//You can condense pretty pure water from the exhaust. This gets around the rather inconvenient lack of rain in many of the dustier regions// good idea. I do think that just spraying your windshield with the hose or going through a car wash would be easier
evilpenguin, Jan 05 2016

There aren't always hoses or car washes in the dustier regions. Think Australian road train.
bs0u0155, Jan 06 2016

Australian road trains are fascinating. I would love to drive one. Those trucks are so specialized they probably would benefit from condensed water from the exhaust for my idea.

Too bad the roads are boring in Australia where the road trains operate. Super long straight roads. Did you know the Australian government puts up billboards along these decollate stretches of road depicting fatal crashes? The problem with the roads is that people get board and fall asleep often and get into horrible wrecks. They started putting up the billboards with pictures of actual wrecks to stimulate drivers and keep them alert to the dangers of falling asleep while driving.

Side note: I want to see a road train involved in a police chase! imagine one of them going over a spike strip and getting 62 flat tires at the same time

       Any relation to Décolletage stretches?

Playing therapist here...why do you hate filling the wiper fluid reservoir? I actually enjoy watching the fluid go in. It's usually pink, I believe. A fine color for an automobile fluid. Better that than putting that damn disgusting, grungy, pukey looking, blackish, oil in, that always gets on my hand and stinks. Ok, I'm done.
blissmiss, Jan 07 2016

Oil is gooood .... not as good as AVGAS, or JP-1, or even regular gasoline ... but still good.

Bliss, I guess it all started when I developed a unusual desire to clean my windshield very often. Accompanied by premium wipers my view is always clear. But using so much of the fluid make it a chore to fill the tank. I tend to run out of fluid every month.

//fine color for an automobile fluid// what about automatic transmission fluid? That's usually blood red
evilpenguin, Jan 07 2016

//damn disgusting, grungy, pukey looking, blackish, oil in, that always gets on my hand and stinks//

It shouldn't be going IN black... should be going in like golden honey, only smoother...

What of that pesky winter season for those who have it?

No water in the winter, just ice. The water you already collected is now frozen.
Giblet, Jan 07 2016

[bs0u0155] I stand corrected. I really have never put oil in, I was thinking it went in the same way it comes out, in puddles in my driveway, right before my car goes dead. Or maybe that was a dream. But you are right, of course.
blissmiss, Jan 07 2016

//No water in the winter, just ice. The water you already collected is now frozen//

Car wash could provide water in the winter and the defroster melts a lot of snow...

And to keep the water liquid there would be piping going through the tank where engine coolant would circulate.

       This idea has many holes
evilpenguin, Jan 07 2016

You can always use liquid frozen air...

// + just because its the first time (I think) we've met on the site, and the idea is not bad.

I've obviously become a spelling nazi, 'winshield' just sounds like a virus scanner for m*******t (spits on the ground) products, or wound irrigation system - see link.

I will correct the title. That's not a horrible misspelling just a skipped key obviously, but still once you pointed it out it bothers me
evilpenguin, Jan 08 2016

Sorry, but it bugged me. I do not have OCD, no ..it's all lies they tell about me....
not_morrison_rm, Jan 08 2016

Now the uppercase D haunts me.
tatterdemalion, Jan 08 2016

Mass attack of OCD over spelling of windshield, which is silly as it is "windscreen" really.
not_morrison_rm, Jan 08 2016

       Sp. Windshield

       also; trunk, hood
evilpenguin, Jan 09 2016

Some font problem, surely you typed boot and bonnet. Bit like the umlauts, or kanji, or even kanji with umlauts.
