Wag The Long Tail

Don't make new ideas bold!

It would be an interesting alteration to the dynamic of the halfbakery if the new ideas didn't dominate the extant ones quite so heavily. There's really no logical reason why a young fresh idea should receive more attention than one that's been around a while.

One of the things that tricks people into homing in on the new ideas is that they're made to stand out by emboldening their listed titles. If this were not so, I think life would improve immeasurably.

Annotation:

       I quite like this suggestion.

       Make everything multi-coloured instead to add to the confusion.

       Choose the colour of your idea when you post it. Actually no, it would make the site stand out too much at work.

       There are tales of an ancient bakery, where ideas were many hue'd...

       This is one of those ideas I'd like to try - just to see what it was like. I agree with the assertion that the improvements to life may indeed be impossible to measure.

       Inasmuch as this irregular halfbaker's opinion is of any importance, I certainly apreciate the boldness of new ideas.

       A different suggestion from the top of my head though, if I may: don't show me how many buns and bones an idea has received until I've cast my vote... The scent of a dozen freshly half-baked croissants will beguile me as surely as the stench of decaying mackerel will draw my wrath.

       Ah, well you'll have to squirrel that away in the form of a separate idea, if you want people to pay attention to it (unless people get their attention on credit or buy now pay later schemes, or even 'pay attention to two things for the price of one').

       //life would improve immeasurably// - That's a very optimistic assertion, Rod's.
wagster, Feb 22 2007

       //immesurably// works just as well on the other side of the scale [wagster]. By the way, are you gonna put up with the tiger calling you a "long tail"?
methinksnot, Feb 22 2007

       I should thinknot. His is six foot long and stripey.

       How dangerous can he be? It's not like he's [hippo] or something.

       //six foot long and stripey//

       speechless.

       Peace, 'flaps.

       Really? I think it looks like a picture of a butterfly with its wings unfolded myself.
