Reindeer in Siberia have developed a liking for a species of mushroom which contains psilocybin, a powerful hallucinogen.

Humans have long consumed various members of the Amanita, Paneolus and Psilocybe families of fungi for their hallucinogenic effects. The active agent is expelled from the body in the urine.

"If you experiment with mushrooms young man/lady, don't be surprised to find a reindeer trying to drink your urine."

So this is how the fat, red guy's reindeer fly? :::::::::happily humming "Flying High Again" by Ozzy Osbourne:::::

Hmmm...does this throw any light on the kinked sexual behavior known as "water sports?" Perhaps those folks are just trying to recycle their hallucinations?

Recycled hallucinations... can you imagine the transfer station facility on a busy day?

If "The first one of these that you take is likely to kill you" doesn't work, what will?

I like to try brainwashing, like the stuff they did in 50's

[As opposed to the stuff they *did* in the 60's]

A lot of ancient tribes did (and probably still do) drink eachother's urine to recycle the psychoactives in "magic mushrooms." The definition of "poisonous" is rather arbitrary here. I would say that if you take the mushrooms for hallucinogenic purposes, they would not really be considered "poisonous." In the same sense, you could say that aspirin is poisonous. It disrupts your stomach, and at high doses is in fact lethal. BTW athletes used to actually take small doses of strychnine because it is in fact a stimulant. In lower doses, it actually isn't known to have toxic effects. The definition of poison is definitely up to interpretation.

This plan would fail around Christmas time.

I'm not sure how many kids would care tbh, as long as they didn't try to drink direct from the source...ow

Santa Claus is red and white just like the amanita mushroom. When the reindeer drink the urine, they tend to leap about, thus the flying reindeer. Rudolph become a urinaholic, thus his red nose and his being shunned by his sober colleagues.

Is'nt every thing a poison? it just depends on dose. Water's a poison too!

Most likely response from said teenager even if he or she doesn't say it to your face... "Kewl!! Dude, I'm so doing all kinds of that shit now. Maybe I can get one of them to..."

BTW, this is why the Brits say that someone who is really drunk, is "pissed."
mystic2311, Dec 23 2003

Yeah the pee thing is pretty well known with amanitas, but it's not the same with psilocybes, which are the more common magic mushrooms these days (even though they're illegal, they're much safer to consume than Amanitas). The effect of the Amanita Muscaria is enough to scare most kids away after the first time, and that's probably why they're still legal.
