An oscillator sits underneath the foot of the waterbed mattress, pulsating to create soothing, relaxing waves.

The oscillator could be something as simple as a motor with a cam affixed to it, pushing the mattress upward once for every rotation.

A controller will allow the user to adjust the amplitude and wavelength to their exact preferences, or use various presets ranging from "ripple" to "tsunami".

The soothing motions will help the user relax, helping them drift off to sleep.

The oscillator will fit any existing waterbed, ensuring high compatibility and ease of use.

"Have you taken your pill, darling? No, not that one. I mean the motion sickness pill - it's going to be a wild night tonight!"

I could like this. Can we also have a subwoofer under it playing the sound of huge ferry engines? It's the best night's sleep around.

You can vary the wave shape with an adjustable ridge along the width of the bed, basically a rubber mat with a bunch of actuators under it.

       Have a bun.

I wouldn't use it for sleep, but I tend to lay down without sleeping a lot, so I would like it. Bun...ny!
