If you walk a lot, and you're heavy (which most of us are, let's face it) then your feet are probably pretty tired by the end of the day.

Everyone would love to have a foot massage, but not everyone has access to a partner willing to perform one, or even a partner in many cases.

Massage shoes can run off mains power, indefinitely, or on power stored in the batteries and capacitors, to run a series of bands across the instep, and a number of actuators under the insole, to gently massage your feet when you have a chance to stop and sit down.

If you are a District Court Judge from Oklahoma then you might think twice before using them in the courtroom.

...and then there's DrBob's version but I really don't want to enter that territory again

You know that leg massagers and foot massagers exist, I'm sure. Since you can't really walk around plugged into a wall socket, what's the point of asking for the existing stuff in a form factor that doesn't have any use?

Because, as stipulated in the idea, there are batteries and capacitors included in the shoes, to facilitate a limited period of use, until a wall socket can be found.

The mains power option is included for no other reason than convenience.

The fact they are built into your shoes also makes them uniquely distinct from the stay-at-home mail order devices to which you linked.
