An energy bar along the lines of PowerBars or Clif Bars which contains ibuprofen, say 200 mg / bar. Taking IB prior to or during exercise is effective in reducing post-exercise soreness.

The obvious disadvantage is that such bars (in USA) would fall under the purview of FDA and be subject to lots of regulation that they're not now...though Power and Clif are making bars and gels with caffeine at the moment.

Great, as long as your kids don't binge themselves into liver failure.

Aren't energy bars already *within* the purview of the FDA? After all, they're food.

(within and beyond are the preferred prepositions for purview.)
