aurora borealis electricity

metalized balloons to capture electricity

Imagine a horde of high altitude balloons metalized and done to take advantage of the magnetic fleids of the northern lights, that send electricity to the ground via an anchor cable...

how does one suck energy out of a magnetic field?

Imagine not posting an idea for a few days.

You are in desperate need of a physics course or two.

I would bone this idea, but instead, I think I am going to start ignoring your ideas. When I look at my beloved halfbakery I will not see your garbage.

       [noyola].... anagram of "a loony".
xenzag, May 20 2009

Imagine a guy who begins every post with the word "imagine". Then imagine a guy who seriously needs to put some more thought and/or research into his ideas. Then imagine putting all that baloney on a sandwich. Then imagine all the people who could be fed with such a sandwich. Then visit the Halfbakery, take a look at noyola's profile, and see your imagination realized!

Seriously, noyola, I've tried to cut you some slack. I've even voted for the few ideas you posted that actually make sense, but dude, your profile says you've been here at least since the Great Crash almost 5 years ago, and you've got ideas posted as far back as April 2003. You've been here over 6 years! There's no excuse for this many lame ideas coming out of you all of a sudden. You know the rules, you know what's expected, now get with the program and quit acting like a fucking newbie!

There is no reason to make personal attacks because you don't like postings.

21Q. It is not good to lunge when you smell blood. Possibly you are taking this all a little to seriously. Be careful for you are easily made a pawn.

He's posted 30 ideas in just a few days, and at least half of them are either redundant, Baked, or very bad science. I'm getting tired of every new idea I click on being garbage posted by the same guy. Yes, noyola's had a few good ones. But he seriously needs to slow down and think a little before posting, and he's been here more than long enough to know that. I'm not trying to make this personal, it applies to everyone who posts a rash of random thoughts (I can't bring myself to call most of these 'ideas') without even bothering to check if any of them have been done before.

[21 Q] Cursing not needed. If you want to really "cut me some slack" I will appreciate you stop reading my posts alltogheter. Rules? Program? This is not the military.

[Mike D] This is the place I kew and loved back then. http://www.halfbakery.com /idea /nasal_20 cigarette_20holders http://www.halfbakery.com /idea /personal_20lightning_ 20rod_20suit That was my beloved halfbakery. That "garbage" make me laugh and think the whole day. I enjoyed it so much. It was a fummy exorcise of the mind, a place to laugh and get wound up by all kind of ideas.

       [xenzag] brilliant anagram! Thanks... ?

       [21 Q] - re [noyola]:
Have you gone back and looked at any of those old [noyola] ideas? Compare the writing style, grammar, and tone? The current poster is not similar in any way to the old one. He *is* a newbie - and one who is very soon going to be on my "filtered" list. As you are.

Which is saying something, since only three others have made it there since I've been here.

Still... //exorcise of the mind// - [marked-for-tagline]

       Oh for goodness' sake.

Having played a game, or two, of "whack-a-noob", from both sides, I think I understand [21Q...]'s irritation, and [noyola]'s reminiscing.

Unfortunately, splitting the baby in two is not going to work here. I suggest [21Q...] creates a view, that eliminates [noyola]'s posts (as simple as editing the recent 3 view: see bottom of recent 3 page -> edit). And I suggest [noyola] return to his former elf, or start anew.

As to the idea: The aurora (borealis and australis) phenomenon, is the expenditure of energy, created by, amongst others, solar winds crashing into charged particles in the upper atmosphere, or causing those particles to crash into others. Sure the magnetic field of the earth caused these charged particles to accumulate there, but in essence the aurorae themselves contain little retrievable energy. (side note please don't accept wikipedia's rendition of the effect as gospel). It is actually not the emf, or whatever you presume to derive energy from, it is actually more chemical (ionisation) in nature, and as such, has little energy yeild beyond the lights themselves.

<epiphany> I suddenly realize why I haven't seen an annotation from [lurch] since the EFP Shotgun debate. <e/>
