If you're going to pay $1000's on an apendage decoration you might as well ensure it will be at its sparkliest in all lighting conditions right?

The ring could be like a regular ring but with a clear LED on the inside which could be powered by teeny tiny bateries or possibly in the same manner as "kinetic" or "automatic" watches.

If im imagining how it would look right ... it seems kinda tacky for a wedding ring. Reminds me of how those imported japanese streetracing cars look -- but with a ring.

Hey bobothefuture, do you know I worked once for a very amusing multibillionaire who had come up with this idea and wanted us to do a feasability study. "Us" was me (supposedly the jewellery PR and marketing "expert"), a couple of researchers (I think electronical engineering dept.) at the Imperial College in London and other assorted weirdos. I can send you the final report if you're interested :-)

Could figure glowing vows witch "flame up" for a few sconds after the passing.

I always regretted that the gems were more dull on the hand than off. I would like a backlit sapphire. +

Maybe there could some christmas add ons, or maybe a blacklight for holloween. Nice!

Some hip hop artist is already attempting to create this right now. "Yo I got the bling bling anytime I want maaaan!"

This would give rise to a whole new genre of ringbearer disaster stories: "And Cedric just looks at me and whispers fiercely, 'I thought *you* had the batteries!'"

thumbwax, Bling + light = Blight

       I'm just sayin' is all.

Could be powered by body heat. Or a kinetic system like bob said. Light up gems would look good. How about colour changing diamonds?

On a similar note, Swarovski now has these new cases that are completely lit up by a constant fibre optic light, a lot better presentation than their previous cases that had a lot less light. I really like this idea. I see your shwartz is a s big as mine!

[mouster] I don't know about [bobofthefuture], but I would like to see what you had come up with, if you don't mind?
