What does it do, clean a stable?

For a total of four feet, or eight?

How about an intelligent mech which would use a random program to release from a hidden chamber anywhere from four to one leg at the start of each day. Productivity for the day would be improved (four-leg program) or impaired (one-leg program), but would approximate today's American workforce.

This is nice, but it needs more branchings. If it were tall enough, it would have millions of feet. It could then walk up walls like a gecko using vanderwalls forces. This would be useful in case the floor got very very hot.
