brand named fruit with cool pop open tabs

"juicers" or, possibly "fast fruit" ... they would need some jazzy name. The idea is simple: real fresh fruit with plastic pull-tabs, or some other kind of wrapping to make them seem more like candy.

For example a banana with a plastic outer layer and zipper that pulls off the skin.

Or an apple in a wire mesh that slices it when you pull a cord.

I remember this trick where you could pre-slice a banana (before peeling it) using loops of thread sewn in the skin... well manufacture bananas that slice themselves when you slide a lever.

There could also be oranges that are peeled then covered in transparent green wax, call 'em "alien balls" kids will love it!

       R&D has just developed Pop-Up Grapes. Each grape is washed and stemmed, then stacked in a protective tube with a spring-loaded launching system triggered at the bottom. Every time you tap the tube on the table one grape pops up high the air so you can catch it in your mouth. Croissant!   

       R&D is still working on a larger version of this for watermelon, but there's one problem yet to be worked out. (Gallagher is not returning calls)

       Did you read the "apples for peace" idea? That could lead to some interesting fruit marketing- you could also put rubber bands and stuff on the fruit while it's growing, and twist it into weird shapes. "monster fruit" could be a big hit!

       This is not only a good idea, but beautiful and socially responsible as well. To play devil's advocate for a moment, I would hate to see the branding guys charging £2.00 ($4.00ish) for an apple because they'd convinced the kids that they had to have "Appleicious" apples with the gimmick. Could we do some gimmicks that could be bought once and used on ordinary fruit and still retain the kid's interest?   

       Reusable Pop-Up Grape tube?   

       A metal orange straw with a punch at one end to break in through the peel and a masher at the other to mash the inside while you suck.   

       Either way, I suppose More Fruit + Fewer Mars Bars = Croissants For Futurebird
