As to the chocolate cereals having caffeine. Chocolate has a naturally occuring alkaloid, theobromine, that is similar to caffeine but not quite the same. It does behave as a stimulant. |

I've recently read that, curiously, theobromine is quite poisonous to canines, with 4 oz. of dark chocolate capable of killing a 10 lb dog. |

What about just spiking the milk with caffeine? Same effect, and you're not limited to certain brands of cereal, or even to cereal itself. Imagine the power that caffeinated cheese, for example, would have to improve people's lives. |

I envision this as being along the same lines as the recent enthusiasm for fortifying all sorts of things -- water, orange juice -- with calcium. |

Sounds like a good idea to me. I don't drink coffee in the
morning, and sometimes I'd like an extra boost. However, I
eat Pop-Tarts, so that may be the thing for the extra
caffeine. |

Why not just caffienate everything for breakfast. Bacon, eggs, bread, milk, syrup. what next? instead of Fluoride why not caffiene in our water supply. i know it would get me to drink it more, and keep my mountain dew bills down. as for bakers there's nothing we cant caffienate!! woohoo! |

You drag yourself out of bed in the morning and shamble to the kitchen, blinking in the light from the fridge as you peer myopically at the contents of the shelves. Suddenly, your heart plummets into your fuzzy slippers as you espy the (gasp!) nearly empty milk container. Oh no! The terrible choice lies before you - coffee, or cereal? Well, you could pour coffee _on_ your cereal, but what if you (double gasp!) have… no… coffee…!? |

I've read that if one inhales just a little bit of powdered caffeine, they will die because it goes straight into the bloodstream and causes the heart to fribulate. That's a no for the caffeine shaker. |

Good old Caffy-Puffs. I actually have a salt-shaker of powdered caffeine for exactly this purpose. Three shakes is all it takes. Also, spacecoyote, I can tell you from experience that one can inhale caffeine without instant death. LD50 in rats is 192 mg/kg, so you'd have to hoover up 10-20 grams before you'd run substantial risk. |
