Some drivers seem to like a loud exhaust note. How about a small sampler that connects to the engine management system to pick up the RPM. In the sampler is a selection of egnine sounds, ie Porsche Turbo, V8, tractor, stream engines, chicken noises or whatever, the output goes to the car audio system. They get the interesting sound, we get quiet.PS Already patented circa 1997, nobody interested, patent lapsed.

I seem to remember reading a few years ago that the Honda NSX has a tuned induction system in the exhaust so that you get a throaty powerful growl as you accelerate, bystanders get a quiet unobtrusive car going past (very quickly)
