cigarette shaped air filters

Some times, for whatever reason, nonsmokers comingle with smokers, and it always seems like an did sight to me, especially in movies. there is always a distance between the two characters, when one is smoking, and the other isnt. perhaps, because the smoker is brazenly displaying a habit that is losing social acceptance more and more--or perhaps its because the smokers lack of care for the nonsmoker is an insult that floats below the surface. I imagine as well that during interrogations, and other matters where a nonsmoker and a smoker are trying to bond that the habit of smoking makes synchronization of body language more difficult.

Anyway, My idea is for something that looks like a cigarrette, but is all filter. It could be used by somone who wanted to fit in on the street with smokers, but still breath fresh air.

Come to think of it, a small cigarette-sized air filter would be nice regardless if you sought to mimic smokers or not, having a personal air filter that could be used inconspicuously from time to time might have an some small but acumulative affect on ones overal health?

oh heck, what about candy cigs?

[+] but you forgot the air-pump cleverly disguised as a reusable cigarette holder to allow the user to inhale completely pollutant free.

Fake cigarettes are well-baked... I'm not sure that this is any different from existing models. I posted a few links to some existing fakes. All I did was Google "fake cigarettes". Take a look.

Edit: Then I Googled "nicotine-free cigarettes" and I think these ones make this idea baked.

//or perhaps its because the smokers lack of care for the nonsmoker is an insult that floats below the surface//

I really find it difficult to see the values that way. Tobacco plantations have a lot to do with American history. Alcohol has existed as long as bread. Both have not caused as much damage as either industrialisation or notions of human competition in terms of money as a derivative of fashionable human desires. So bun for sticking with the longest term value of a cig.

//and I think these ones make this idea baked//

That's not exactly an assertion, rcarty, now is it? I didn't mark it for deletion, either, did I? Back the fuck off.

All I said was "Fake cigarettes are well-baked'' and "I think these ones (referring to some links I posted) make this idea baked". At no time did I say this idea is completely baked, at no time did I say this idea should be Marked for Deletion, and at no time did I assert anything other than the fact that you need to shut the fuck up right now because I'm getting really sick and tired of people telling me to keep my opinions to myself.

Maybe if people didn't keep posting ideas that are so God Damned similar to existing ideas, if they showed just a hint of creativity and orignality instead of changing one insignificant aspect of an idea to make it "original" I'd stop calling them on it.

You want to know why I don't like this idea? Because it's so similar to existing fake cigarettes, and it still glorifies and promotes the image of smoking. If you don't like smoking and are truly against it, why the hell would you want people to think you're a smoker? Grow a fucking backbone and stand up for your convictions.
21 Quest, Mar 18 2009

... if you'd bothered to read the fucking post instead of your own unrelated links...

//glorifies and promotes the image of smoking// the only even possibly relevant phrase in an otherwise totally non-sequitur anno, assuming you're "lighting up" in a schoolyard.
FlyingToaster, Mar 18 2009

//It seems a lot of these assertions you have been making recently are completely illogical.//

That's what prompted my "totally non-sequitur anno". It was written in response to another anno, FT, not this idea. I've been catching a lot of flak lately from posters who don't like their precious ideas being criticized, in the form of comments like the one [rcarty] posted above, and I'm getting sick of it. I'm sorry this has spilled over into your post, Bobo, I truly am. But I'm not going to stop calling out weak, unoriginal, or poorly thought out ideas because the poster can't take criticism. [rcarty] apparently has no inkling of the beatdown many of my early ideas were subjected to. But I didn't complain, I didn't tell the people who've been here longer than me that they had to lower their standards to accomodate my feelings. I adapted, raised the standard for my own ideas, and that's what I expect others to do. I admit my ideas aren't always well-recieved, either, but I've also self-deleted many of them that were shown to have been done already. I didn't whine, bitch, moan, complain, and demand a kinder, gentler Halfbakery. There are rules to go by when posting, and I expect everyone to hold themselves accountable to those rules.
21 Quest, Mar 18 2009

I think you responded to an anno I was editing while you were responding to it...

As a considerate smoker I would prefer the "gentle reminder" rather than some jackass who gives you a wide berth while coughing dramatically or asks "you do know that's bad for you?" or pulls out and dons a handy NBCW kit.

The cuteness in the idea rests in that it's an anti-cigaretter, not a fake-cigarette.
FlyingToaster, Mar 18 2009

Hm... would it look different than real cigarettes, then?
21 Quest, Mar 18 2009

no, but it would be obvious to the real smokers who you're with and I don't imagine there'd be much call for using it as you were walking by a schoolyard or playground or something (though at this point I may be putting words into [botf]'s mouth); I took the post to be referential to situations where you want to join the gang at work who are hiding next to the dumpster, or you're in a smoke-friendly venue (somebody's home) or something.

However I think I'll hijack the post and declare that they be a non-standard colour (neon or pastel) which is baked but rare.
FlyingToaster, Mar 18 2009

crafty smokers can use it to smoke inside: inhale through the normal cigarette then exhale through the all-filter one.
