With computing print head technology, it might be possible to design a very tiny relatively simple injection and ignition system. Fuel would be mixed and then pumped to the system. a tiny out port would just follow the inlet after a increment of rotation.

The main rotor would be a cylinder with V'ed cupping depressions. Not unlike a music box cylinder with bumps except the bumps would be hollows to catch popping pushes. A computation device, depending on speed and torque needed, would decide how many tiny ignites would be necessary.

The cylinder would need a timing track to help the computer track the depressions. Two of these cylinders might be needed for balancing reasons. I did have the strange idea of a Y shape. Two angled opposite rotating Pffft cylinders and a drive shaft coming out between them.

A 2.0l gives 200 10ml combustion cells.

A program could control an infinite number of ways to play the turn of the cylinder.

Thanks Bigsleep Pffft is the word I was looking for.

Pffft,,, ...... Pffft,, ...... Pffft,,, vrrrrrrmmmmm.

Sounds like the gunpowder engine featured on Mythbusters.

Yes, my mind quickly ran away from the details of the air/fuel mixture.
