Would it not be cool to see the power working .Most modern cars cover eventhing in plastic guards .

Manufacture see through fenders and bonnet and have the block a clear material to show off lubrication / water cycles and of course the constant flash of the cyclinders . There are many 3D representations and the odd advert but I have seen no actualisations in reality yet . Surely there is a material up to the job . Maybe the cost is prohibitive . The car would certainly get some looks travelling through town .

Transparent aluminium might be up to it, but it's a bugger to machine and it contracts too much to cast nicely. I guess you could sinter it, but that leaves you with a frosted surface. It was used for the exhaust manifolds of some of the old Heaton-Wibbley motorcycles, but it never really caught on.

I suspect the name 'Heaton-Wibbley' was the main reason that it didn't catch on.

I don't mind some gentle Heaton-Wibbley. But I also hope it doesn't catch on anything.
