if you are compelled to see a "blockbuster" movie - do NOT buy the ticket for it, rather, buy one for the small, independent flick playing..add to their "weekend numbers" ($$ per theater, etc) and take AWAY from micheal douglas/catherine zeta-jones salary, earnings, value and more.
pass it on.. [link]

Stealing photons from the movie screen doesn't take away from anyone, unless you manage to prevent legitimate Zeta-watchers from plunking down the dough. |
|
| |
If this became widespread, theater houses might simply hire a few extra ushers to make sure that people get to where they're supposed to go or don't get where they're not. They already do this for some movies like popular R-rated flicks. Usually, the theater doesn't give that much of a rip, except for the situation stated in the first paragraph. |

c
im working on that.
if it was just widesppread enough to make a "difference" but not enough to add beefed up security i would be a happy girl. |
|
| |
By they way, what do you have against Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones? |
|
| |
Were they the ones that flew or the ones that spit fire? |
|
| |
zip-do see the indies at the smaller theaters (as most megaplexes dont show them) BUT when i am compelled to see a blockbuster title why not give some revenue to the smaller flicks with some smaller name leads playing at the same theater?
c-nuthin against MD/CZJ (except maybe the fact that they have their fair share along with teh rest of holywood....robin hood wasnt so bad, now was he?)
p-im in SF but if youre in NYC feel free to engage. |

...revolution or invention?... |

Y'know, I wish I'd thought of this when "Battlefield Earth" came out. As a connoisseur of dumb ideas, it was my duty- nay, my DESTINY- to see it, but I couldn't bear paying money to the Co$. |
|
| |
Yeah, I had to rent it for the same reason. But I won't begrudge them the money if it provides well enough for those involved that they never need work again. I mean, if they get the chance. Not much scope for applying ideas like this to renting, I suppose. |
|
| |
You obviously have a different system to the UK. There are always ushers on every door for every movie, so your idea wouldn't work here.
Uncle Nutsy: Battlefield Earth is also one of the worst books ever written. If you can borrow a copy ( I wouldn't dream of paying money for it) then do it. But have an emergency line to The Samaritans on stand-by. |
|
| |
Dr. Bob: I actually own a copy of "Battlefield Earth," having paid only slightly more (that is, nothing) than it is reputedly worth. |
|
| |
Nevertheless, like the "Necronomicon," I can't read more than a couple of sentences before I (mercifully) develop hysterical blindness to protect the shreds of my sanity. |
|
| |
That's a good idea. I am all about the robinhood complex. I particularly love "men in tights". Steal from the rich and give to them poor folk. Come together! |
