banks would issue a dozen "temporary credit cards" to you. someone borrows money from you and instead of going to your bank, waiting in long lines they can deposit the cash with a one-time card that allows them to DEPOSIT only.
thsi is great for out of town family/friends-- PayPal

Why one-time, rather than just one-way? Maybe they want to pay back in installments... |

Would use of the card debit the
payer's bank account, or would
they have to feed money into the
machine? |

egnor--for those who areNT online. and no, i would insert a card given to me by my grandpa and i deposit cash or check--moreso to avoid deposit slips & long bank lines.
jutta, yeah--could be a "deposit card" not disposable for moe tahn 1 payment. |

I'm sure that this type of card will soon be widely available.
What I'd personally enjoy seeing is a "no questions asked" cash debiting service for when I find an offer of 'instant savings' or those times a store computer tells me 'You just saved $X this trip". |
