Iraq style. (I was amused to see the Iraqi papers publishing the pictures of the proposed new ruling council using the playing card format.) [DrCurry, Oct 04 2004, last modified Oct 05 2004]

Like the Iraq playing cards - the Aces reflect the most notorious halfbakers, and so on down the pack to bristolz and po? Or like Tarot cards, with the hullaballoon and other pictogenic HB ideas illustrating each card?
DrCurry, May 31 2004

I did think of you as the Joker, my dear!
po, May 31 2004

I hope that last link is not me!

no DC, a genuine pack of cards with suits that reflect the hb. see link.
po, May 31 2004

Two can play at that game...
DrCurry, May 31 2004

       ideas? lit light bulb!

       what do you suggest?

open to suggestions - I have been pondering for months...

also, the picture on the back...

I know it requires further thought!
po, May 31 2004

since the vogue is non-conformity, we're rebelling by doing the same thing as everyone else.

I think that one of the suits should change at random every month or so. The five of hullaboons is now obsolete, for instance, and replaced by the quintuple Bonzeggs. This would mainly be for marketing purposes, but we could tell the public it was to represent the ever-evolving meme of the halfbakery. Or something.

I know where you are coming from: 6 panic pins, 9 cats mad! but I wished to keep it simpler!

and the picture on the flipside - I hope it incorporates explosions!
po, May 31 2004

Brillliant idea. Can we name them, pretentiously, in French (was it not Monsieur Deck who invented cards in the first place?).
neilp, May 31 2004

       No, Descartes.
yamahito, May 31 2004

       From bris' link:

//Despite their global origins, playing cards are a uniquely American art form//

What utter crap. (nice photos of cards, though ;op )
yamahito, May 31 2004

Yeah, I thought that a little weird and contradictory. Nice card artwork, though.
bristolz, May 31 2004

If you want to vary slightly from the norm then for the black cards even numbers could have a croissant on the back and odd numbers a fishbone. And vice versa for the red cards.
DrBob, Jun 01 2004

pleasantly confusing DrBob! my poker skills are limited as it is.
po, Jun 01 2004

Congratulations on a fine illustration, [po]. Just lovely. I'll be over for a round of Rummy presently. +
k_sra, Jun 01 2004

       Need a fourth? (+)

just back from Vegas, would have done better with these+
theircompetitor, Jun 01 2004

Explosions on the flip-side? Maybe one of Vernon's mad-scientist inventions! :D
Aerythes, Jun 01 2004

a custard suit wouldn't that be messy?
engineer1, Jun 02 2004

<refrains from posting Custard Crash Suit idea>
DrBob, Jun 02 2004

//I'll be over for a round of Rummy...//

I'll just be over for the rum, you two can play cards all you want. +

Can I get my picture on the 2 of clubs? <big cheezy grin>
Letsbuildafort, Jun 02 2004

(Oh, there you are [Lbaf]. I was beginning to miss you.)
k_sra, Jun 02 2004

And you could make them collectable with stats for another game on the back. Thus two games in one card. ++
sartep, Jun 06 2004

While I don't offhand know the dimensions ratio for an ordinary playing card, I will assume for this posting that it is 3:5. Now imagine the back of the cards as being divided into 15 equal square areas, each illustrating an HB idea. Not necessarily the best or worst, but a good sampling that translate well to images.

Oh, and [po], sorry, but that phrase at the link, "flush with success" is not so appropriate to the image. You have a partial "straight" there, not a "flush" (which is all cards the same suit).
Vernon, Jun 07 2004

Yeah, sorry, k_sra, but HB time just hasn't been in the cards latley. :( -- Still shuffling to pick up my deck.
Letsbuildafort, Jun 07 2004

sorry Vernon. not played cards in an age. loved Canasta when I was very young.
