The wheels of a car accomplish several functions; namely they provide static equilibrium when the car is at rest, they provide dynamic equilibrium when driving, they provide forward push, and they provide steering.

Gyrocars used two wheels instead of four, with gyros for equilibrium.

It should be possible to make cars with 2 or 1 wheel using gyros, aerial steering (wings) and push (jets or fans), thus enlonging roads duration.

surely fewer wheels, rather than less wheels?

I got rid of all my wheels ages ago.

[neilp] quite right. When the number of items are quantifiable, use fewer, when not, use less.

Ever hit gravel or dust on a motorcycle? My hospital experience tells me this wouldn't be any better than whats out there already. Also, have you ever tried to steer a motorcycle at high speeds? The inherent gyroscopic effect of both the wheels spinning at high RPMs makes the thing incredibly difficult to corner. Changing lanes isn't that bad, but CORNERING at anything above 70 takes muscle.

I don't understand the goal, "enlonging roads duration." That sounds like you're saying there will be less damage to the road. I believe there would be less damage to the road if the weight were distributed over more wheels. (Interesting that "more" is the antonym of both "less" and "fewer")

enlonging roads duration? Are you Vulcan?

Seems like a perfectly cromulent usage.
