The litter stucker is a pole with a soft flexible rubber suction cup for getting a good seal on the variable to be contacted and lifted .

Inside the pole is a pipe that allows the suction to flow to the cup at the slight hold of a button . The closer the button control mechanism is to the cup the better the number of pickups . A rechargeable canister clips into pole to give the charge . (Specially made on the space station and brought back to us on terra firma :-)

The piping and holes would have to be tiny to allow only fractions of air into canister . Number of pickups is approx. equals the volume of canister / volume of cup .

So you could suck in, say, only oxygen molecules?

Someone else proposed something like a can of vacuum recently. Such a thing would run out of suction power so quickly, it's not even worth considering.

Put a motor in the can, and keep sucking the air out. Oh, wait, that's a hoover.

       It.....Could......WORK!

It would work the first time.

The canister must be large to be used in this manner. Tanks on a backpack, evacuated by a manual pump, might produce a suitable vacuum. But for items that don't stick to your suction cup you'll also need a litter spike handy.

[Coprocephalous] with the right filter . [DrCurry] nano engineering . Motor weight versus a can of vacuum . [Amos Kito] you are right . Porous stuff is a failure point .

The canister , I dreamed up , would be like an negative aerosol can . They would be made in a factory to produce a very very rarefied space and be used for any purpose .

I suppose stucker could go the AA battery way with gecko foot filament tech .( stick to everything ? )

I suppose I could make a tiny rubber hand on the end of the pole that deforms under the vacuum to grip the item :-)
