When Im working on the computer the cat gets a bit lonely. the incessant meaowing can interrupt the thought process. How about a "wide" office chair with enough space for human and pet? (some office chairs have wide backs that pets like to sit on, but having feline commenting on your work from the
"peanut gallery" above your ears can be a bit distracting!
Should be do-able.

in what way ? surely the chair's been made bigger for the inclusion of the cat/dog/child, but plain old common-sense indicates that the small-side has to have a raiser of some kind, so it's not just being made "bigger". |

UnaBubba, did not envision it THAT big, will probably have to limit to the smaller pet variety.. although, sure, space-clearing can be an added benefit.. |

I think it might be better to invent a cat basket that can be clamped to the arm of an office chair. That way it could go either side depending on where you have most space and could be height adjustable to be out of the way or at ideal petting level. |

FYI, Scott Adams works under the supervision of his cat so this might be something he'd be interested in baking. |

A bun (+) in welcome [alex123], but I think you've misunderstood the cat. It doesn't want you on the same chair, its trying to teach you that your proper place, as a cat servant, is any place where it doesn't currently want to be, and your proper activity mode is any activity that is cat-focussed - abstractions like working to get money to feed the cat are meaningless to the cat. It expects you to send the children out to work to get catfood cash and it expects you to be its full time attendant. Now, get off its chair before it slashes your throat. |

[ConsulFlaminicus] I had similar thoughts. As far as a cat is concerned, next to it is not the same as under it. For any chance of feline approval, the seat would have to be heated and distinctly lap shaped. |

Perhaps a better strategy would be to have a layer above your lap which has similar contours. Once the cat is sleeping, the fake lap can be slowly swung away to the side, where you can watch your slumbering overlord stretch out indulgently and fall on the floor. But beware, your laughter will be greeted with an indignant stare, behind which a cunning mind is plotting revenge. |

Shih Tzu are quite happy to sit (or lie) on a swivel office chair placed next to the worker's chair, as long as their chair is of superior quality and comfort. |
