How about a car door that instead of opening "outwards" rolls up, into the roof of the car.. Construction material: some light weight graphite composite. Operable with a switch/button so theres no manual rolling involved. Advantages: ..easy to get out of the car in tight parking spots. ..amazing for good weather driving.. gives a very "convertible"-ish or Jeep feel.

Disadvantages: The roof gets to thick??? (to hold the rolled up part)

Roll top (desk in this case) http://www.hsarollt..._large_closed_l.jpg
...would avoid a large bulge in the roof. Baked, apparently, for the backs of pick-up trucks. [DrCurry, Jul 31 2002, last modified Oct 04 2004]

A fine idea. You'd want it to give a rich, basso voosh as well.

If it just went up into the roof (like a rolltop lid on a desk), it wouldn't get too thick.

Disadvantage #2: Side-impact accidents = instant death; doors provide little safety.
