A belts and rollers style Van de Graaff generator would be built into a rollerskate with a band going around one of the wheels and into the bottom of the skate to generate the static electricity. The only alteration i that i can think of is to replace the aluminum sphere with an aluminum insole.Or If the dome is crucial for a Van de Graaff generator to work, perhaps it could be built into the bottom of the shoe as well with only a small area exposed to make contact with your foot.

Short name, e.g., Bob's Coffee

Destination URL. E.g., http://www.coffee.com/

Description (displayed with the short name and URL.)

Yeah, but you'll get a heck of a spark when you grab onto the lamp post to stop.

(The dome is just there to hold the charge; your hair will gradually dissipate it, but not enough to spoil the effect.)

Why does this strike me as a great James Bond weapon...

RayfordSteele, Jul 11 2002

It would be a neat weapon for when people began picking on your hair or skates.

The static electricity generated probably wouldnt be too dangerous would it?

Not unless you wanted to refuel your car while wearing these things .....

You often refuel your car while wearing roller skates?

How much did they charge for your shocking 'do?

FarmerJohn, Jul 12 2002

angel: No, normally I just stand on my skateboard - easier than taking the rollerblades on and off. It can be tricky to drive in rollerblades. Shirley you're not suggesting an absence of wheeled footwear when filling one's car ? You're just wierd ....
