spackle net shade

What if you stretch out a mosquito net on three poles and spakle the net with mud? Instant shade for the desert

I saw some magazines where people were sitting out in the sun. they had cobbled together sun-blocking structures from scraps (sparse scraps at that).

I eventually thought, "hey, those mosquito net charity people could assist people at the desert with almost the same product"

So: A cheap mesh net, then use local mud and water to spackle the holes, if you can find 3 poles you have shade. I imagine a tarp sized net could be less than a dollar.

I like the concept, but wet mud would almost certainly be enough weight to collapse most screens and if you spread it thin enough to hold then as soon as it dries any wind will cause it to flap right off.

That's a shame - it would be nice to find a good use for all that mud and water that make deserts so inhospitable.

You don't need nets, mud, or even scraps. Extremely effective sun-blocking can be achieved with nothing more than droplets of plain water, suitably arranged at the correct altitude above ground.

In some places, this blocking is so effective that residents are completely unaware that there is such a thing as a "sun", and when moved to a location where the sun is actually visible from ground level are instantly afflicted by a wide range of physical and psychological traumas.

With existing knotted-hanky technology, spackling is deprecated.

Enough layered nets, at angles to each other, would do the job.
