It's just this simple: you feed all your papers into a tray. The tray feeds into a scanner. The scanner checks for sensitive information (such as address, credit card info, social security number, etc.) and seperates the papers into two groups. The non-sensitive papers are ejected into a bin to be
recycled. The sensitive ones continue on to the shredder. How about it?
halfbakery: Junk Mail Recycler
Junk Mail Recycler My take on a version of this that sits beneath your letterbox - the crowd seemed to take some convincing back then, which is fair enough - I still think it's a good idea though. [zen_tom, Sep 28 2009]

Hm... I'll have to think about this one... |
|
| |
Why the distinction between shredding and recycling? Can't you recycle shredded paper? |
|
| |
If you shred paper that didn't have any confidentiality
attached to it, it gains energy in doing so, and stops
being green. |
|
| |
i dont think thats what he means by "green". |
|
| |
Hippo, I think the distinction is there to prolong the life of the
shredder by reducing the amount of paper that goes through it. |

Psst, got some nylons, do you a good price, if you're
interested. |
