Soak jalapeño peppers in tequila. Much more macho than shots.

       No, macho requires habanero.

I don't think that they need to be any more macho than they already are, not if the ones I had a couple of weeks ago are anything to go by. Eating them was a three step process. Step 1, Eat the first one and possibly the stem as well. Step 2, Eat the second one not quite up to the stem. Step 3, Nibble at the third one and pretend that you had a big meal earlier.

I don't get it. Jalapenos are sold here in Subway. We must be getting the ones John West rejects.. they are not particularly hot by comparison with Thai chillies.

       Am I getting female chillies?

UnaBubba, Feb 26 2001

Jalapenos have a large range of heat index, which is measured in scoville heat units. They can range from around 100-200,000. So if you get a jalepeno that is only 100, it is as mild as a green pepper, but 200,000 is ranging on habenero territory.

Why not inject the tequila into fresh peppers instead of pickling? Mucho macho shotso

Not exactly the same but similer: A friend of my step dad buys really cheap vodka and adds chillis to them then lets the vodkz sit until the chillis go white and the vodkz goes kind of redish, this drink is enough to bring the best drinker to his knees so i suppose that the same could be done with tequila but i do not want to be the one who tests them out. (my mouth is still sore after drinking the afore mention vodka.)

All things in moderation - chili-infused vodka makes a wonderful "Cajun Martini" and a fantastic Bloody Mary... one can, of course, go overboard and easily make it too hot to drink.

If you're after macho, try "Prairie Fire" shooters: a shot of tequila and a few liberal dashes of Tabasco hot sauce thrown in. Goes down smooooooth - NOT!

I actually rather like the idea of injecting a chili with a "shot" (ha!) of tequila - a smallish one-bite chili so you don't end up with the caustic juice in your eyes etc...

The tobasco is an old one and isnt nearly as mucho as the shilli vodka, but yeah it still hits pretty hard.

Or try my signature drink, a Carmania (Tequila & Sambuca)
