vending machine generosity

Make somebody's day...

You know how vending machines sometimes take your money and you don't get your product? It pisses me off, frankly, and if I happen to be feeling under the weather at the time, my whole day is ruined and I hate the Pepsi Co. for at least a week before I feel forgiving enough to try their machines again. Well I've been thinking about this, and I think it could really help make people's day if the machine was programmed to dispense an extra quarter with the change (or even if they paid exact change and weren't expecting *anything*) for every 10th product dispensed (the exact number could be chosen by the company).

This would not only make the customers more satisfied, it would bring in more customers who hear of their friends getting lucky.

//it would bring in more customers who hear of their friends getting lucky.// Sounds like my ex-girlfriend.

Or two products instead of one, sometimes.

do you work for coca cola?

We had a can-vending machine in a place I worked at. We figured out that if you pushed it back on it's hind legs, then let it go, it rocked forward with enough momentum that it dispensed each front-row can for free. Nice.

No, I work for a phone company. I won't say which because it might compromise my relative safety (do you have any idea how many threats I get in a given day!?)

[jackthepickle] - people have died doing the same thing. (being crushed by the machine)

Sometimes, just a little kick works fine.

No, it's not in my name... I'm a little smarter than that, I like to think.

I could swear that vending machines are programmed to steal from the poorest, in their hungriest moment. Theyre are evil, evil mechanical beings (but the idea is lovely +).

They are evil indeed.... which is why they need a change of heart. I considered changing the title to "cheaper by the dozen"... what do you think?

Quest, I do enjoy your intent to make people happy, but I don't see myself having a great day because an extra quarter pops out of a vending machine. I do however get entirely pissed off when my money is "stolen" by a vending machine. With a better reward I will throw you my +.

How about a silver dollar? Or maybe a free drink?
21 Quest, Oct 23 2006

       Sold. +'s to you
Chefboyrbored, Oct 24 2006

After receiving an extra quarter, I'd probably spend $10 trying to get it to happen again :P
