xFocals are glasses (both sun glasses and perscription) wich have upto a 12x optical zoom accessable with a button on the top of the glasses frame and also the ability to take pictures or even record what you are seeing..

the nano-lense would provied you with a display to browse your pictures/recordings or even the interweb, and also the light sensitive tint feature (pretty much explains itself), earphones and a mic attached to the glasses would allow you to browse your mp3's and take your phone calls. A nano-drive would be equipped on the xfocals, for your mp3's, movies, and pictures...

The lense wouldnt be a minature tv screen but some sort of projector or somthing that didnt cause eye cancer...

please post any comments or ideas

       Ah, the magic of technology!

Any real idea how you're going to achieve this? (And before you answer, you might want to search both this site and the rest of the Internet for recording and telescopic eyeglasses, and heads-up displays.)

Didn't I already annotate on this yesterday? I'm pretty sure you aren't [st3f] now.

Didn't Gibson write about something like this? (Or uhm, any other SF-writer, for that matter)

And it would make for a great illustration also...Hell, as a corrective lenses wearer, I'd like to own a set.

I remember an old NOVA where they were playing with something like this at MIT... hmmmm google? yup, made it to mainstream <see link>.

Looking for a wireless one that will let me contact my home server's voice recognition software to do my bidding whilst I feed pigeons at the park. "computer?", "yes, zuzu", "check email. standby." ...ah, just a matter of time.

but 12x optical zoom? You need a fullscale SLR to do that.
shernren, Nov 04 2005

Funny how people use the term SLR, due to some single lens reflex cameras on the market that are expensive (and some of which are good). It just means that you're using the same lens to view and to record an image.

To do 12x optical zoom you will need a pair of lenses, one of which is fairly large (i.e. gallon size freezer bags).

[DrCurry] That second link caught me off guard and cracked me up. Yes! agreed.

[def] Giving my + for the name and the off chance they could shoot rays as illustrated.
