Balloon To Work   (+7)  [vote for, against]
Get a little variety in your working day

Though I no longer work for someone else there was a time when I did. I used to hate having to turn up at the same place, to do the same thing, with the same people, day after day.

It often occurred to me that I'd like to just rock up somewhere unusual and start work for the day, randomly. Easy enough for those of us who are multi-skilled and willing workers.

Therefore, I propose a flexible employment system based upon people using hot air or helium balloons to set off for work in the morning.

You go where the wind goes and land wherever you manage it. You then safely tether your balloon and present for work at the nearest house of business.

Meanwhile, BubbaCo Subhuman Resources staff collect your balloon and deliver it to your place of residence, for use on the morrow. They also make arrangements for you to get homely safely and expeditiously at the end of the day.

What if you land at a hot-air balloon rally?

"And now for the weather... ...strong winds coming in from the Atlantic are likely to cause a drop in productivity on western coasts. Those dwelling on the east coast are urged to bring enough gas to reach France if need be."

Since balloons drive dogs nuts, I'm guessing this would be quickly banned by local municipalities.

You could also make the balloon a workspace for freelancing, given sufficient means to establish communication links while floating over a random section of landscape.

True... with 3G connectivity. Not a bad idea.
