Company is asking for help with product ideas for a blowing interface-- theircompetitor, Nov 05 2009 Be A Mind Blower http://www.zyxio.com/ [theircompetitor, Nov 05 2009] Near-dc-processing for microphone signal Near-dc-processing_...microphone_20signalHmm, sounds familiar... [csea, Nov 06 2009] They probably need to start with non corny marketing ideas. I mean, most of it reads worse than many of my badly written up ideas and I do this for fun and for free.
It's a step out there I'll grant, but I still can't think in Russian *cough* *cough* (the last bit was the smoking problem which hopefully won't develop into a financial problem or a hard disk reformatting incident).
There we go Tixylionaftech, there's your feedback.-- bigsleep, Nov 05 2009 I'll stick with clapping my hands for the time being thanks. Lights on.-- Duckjuice, Nov 05 2009 Why a special sensor? My kid's Nintendo DS Lite does this with a microphone in at least one mini-game in Mario Party.-- phoenix, Nov 05 2009 Certainly not what I thought I was going to find here. Not at all. Goodbye.-- blissmiss, Nov 05 2009 [Duckjuice].... a newbie on the block? - any relation to Swervegentile?-- xenzag, Nov 05 2009 Linking to idea competitions is great, but I have a small request: When linking to corporate competitions, move the information up front into your halfbakery post, so everybody else doesn't have to read all the self-advertising of the company if they're not interested in it.
- what's the competition about? - how long is it on for? - who is it open to? - what does one win?
For example, in this case, while everybody can "judge" other people's ideas, only people who can legally work in the US can submit ideas. That's a good thing to know up front for the world-wide halfbakery audience.
This whole process seems very vulnerable to fraud. Not that many people are going to sign up as judges - I mean, it kinds of sucks to have to sing up to see anything, even just the categories they have - so one determined person with a lot of email accounts or friends or twitter followers might be able to throw this thing.
Oh good. Their demo video has live audio, and they filmed it ... in front of a rushing fountain. I kid you not.
I'm not sure the humiliation of being on a "MindBlowing Advisory Board" for six months would be worth $6,000; but I do hope someone comes up with some good assistive tech ideas.-- jutta, Nov 05 2009 gotta admit I can't see anything that useful apart from anenometer and disabled-assistance devices. Both Yamaha and Akai have "breath controllers" for MIDI control of synthesized instruments (though they're just pressure sensors)-- FlyingToaster, Nov 06 2009 "Inflate Inflate Revolution" ?-- jutta, Nov 06 2009 Perhaps it's just me, but I'm confused. I don't understand the title or description; I particularly don't understand the linked website; nor do I really comprehend the relevance of all your annotations. Help!-- pocmloc, Nov 06 2009 <link> issa chip that measures wind velocity and direction combined with a marketing department that really wants something to do.-- FlyingToaster, Nov 06 2009 Maybe useful to detect if someone is farting in your general direction. Centred in an office it could provide a compass like arrow. A straw and pressure sensor seems like the solution for most other applications.-- bigsleep, Nov 07 2009 I could see applications in the rehabilitation / medical fields.-- RayfordSteele, Nov 10 2009 halfbakery
