Car boot thermos   (+3)  [vote for, against]
Magically tells the difference between hot and cold

Simply, this is a compartment/s in the boot of cars, which is walled as a cool box or thermos would be.
Large enough to accomodate grocery bags - perishables can be kept cool and likewise cooked food can be kept warm on the journey home.

Didn't Volkswagon do this already? I know SOME car manufacturer has a climate controlled glovebox.

Um... I admit my knowlege of British terminology is lacking. Is the "boot" the storage compartment in the back of the car that we call the "trunk" in the U.S.? You can buy, for about 30 bucks, a mini-fridge/freezer that plugs into your cigarette lighter. I've seen 'em at Wal-Mart and Target.

Yeah, but you can't fit any dead hookers in the mini fridge without ... lots more effort.

<aside> I want a Transformers car boot thermos <as>

But [Letsbuildafort], that's half the fun, isn't it? Which, erm, tools to use, how to... arrange the parts, it's like having your own homemade jigsaw pussle.

You could line the trunk with rigid foam insulation and cover it in indoor/outdoor carpet. Be sure to wrap the whole end of the car with Tyvek to prevent air leaks and caulk, caulk, caulk.
