A small conveyor belt in the crack in the couch would run into a box whenever it senses pressure on it. It should know what's on it according to the weight. Perhaps it could announce whether it's just picked up change, the remote, a tissue, or an unknown object. Coin roller optional.

Fabulous! One of my least favorite chores, digging for gold in the sofa crevices. I turn up lots of change though.
