Elevator alarm with duplex video   (+4)  [vote for, against]
For the hearing-impaired.

Almost all elevators have an alarm or emergency call button.

But the system has a limitation - it's usually a voice intercom.

If the caller has a hearing impairment, they can't respond to any questions, which may result in the call being dismissed as a hoax.

The answer is a 2-way video link, so the caller can sign to the call handler, and vice-versa.

[8th], I'm not sure those new meds are working out. You have recently posted several ideas whose purpose seems to be to reduce risk, assist those with disabilities, or help people in difficulty. I trust that normal service will be resumed shortly?

PLEASE INSERT DOS DISK IN DRIVE A: AND STRIKE ANY KEY
-- 8th of 7, Nov 17 2016

Where's the "ANY" key? And what kind of strike would you prefer: air-strike, union strike, kid's trike, sun-strike, strike up the band?

Jokes aside, this is actually a good idea. Screens, cameras, data links are all cheap enough now to implement this.
