Fuel pump with air line   (+3)  [vote for, against]
Logical

Fuel pumps that have a compressed air supply fed to them, and an extending hose for inflating tyres.

Drivers would not need to move to another location on the forecourt to top up tyre pressures.

Water and air service points were integrated into the pump "islands" on old-style "full-serve" stations, but have now disappeared almost entirely.

This is fine until someone inadvertently fills their tyres with diesel. Actually, it may be fine even then.

This is the sort of small, smart and cheap thing the government could be doing. You can whine at manufacturers all you like about efficiency, but 4 tires 10psi below ideal will ruin fuel economy and handling. Legislate that fuel sales require compressed air and window washing equipment and then check such things at MOT time/pulling people over for general dodgyness.

Who else has spotted the fundamental issue with that statement ?
