Schrödinger Cereal   (+5, -4)  [vote for, against]
For the discerning Physicist at breakfast.

Until you open the box, you don't actually know if there's any cereal in it, as it is well soundproofed and shaking it doesn't help as the contents are in an elasticated inner pouch to stop them moving.

The cereal itself is shaped like tiny cats - pour milk on them and rather than snap, crackle and pop, listen to them make yowling noises as they drown. Then bite their heads off and crunch them up. MUHWHAHAHAHAHA !

In every pack is also a free gift - either a radioactive source, a detector, or a glass vial of poison.

Free Gift Inside (Gonna Need a Bigger Box For It To Possibly Not Be In...) http://jezebel.com/...r-out-of-a-dead-cat

So, how would the discerning of a physicist from non-phyiscist work with this device?
-- Inyuki, Jun 07 2012

You can only find that out by opening the box and looking inside.

A physicist: opens up the box, and gets attracted to the free gift, forgets the hunger.
A non-physicist: opens up the box, starts eating, thinks that the radioactive source is a food supplement.

The empty box will weigh less. If the box contains a small mass of cereal, this can be determined by various twists/rotations of the box, even if the mass doesn't move inside the box. Because the empty parts of the box will accelerate faster under the applied forces.

You have to say this about Schrödinger hb ideas: you click on them expecting nothing. But occasionally you get something :) +
