No billy clubs, please....
-- phoenix, May 10 2002

or canadian clubs
-- reensure, May 10 2002

where do they carry a badge?
-- rbl, May 10 2002

Unfortunately, it will star William Conrad and Buddy Ebsen.
-- mrthingy, May 10 2002

If they have no backside, they can do the mobius strip.
-- FarmerJohn, May 10 2002

I hope they keep their socks on.
-- po, May 10 2002

a cool, suave and disdainful talking car?
-- yamahito, May 10 2002

[rbl] "We don't need no stinkin'..."

But then there's the handcuffs, mace, etc.. Also note that they're terrible at undercover work.

[mrthingy] You forgot Phyllis Diller.

[po] I thought you liked yours sans socks.
-- phoenix, May 10 2002

depends where they put the socks... (cue for jokes about keeping the trunceon in the socks, etc)
-- yamahito, May 10 2002

oui, sans socks - but this lot need some protection when padding the mucky streets. bless 'em.
-- po, May 10 2002

I bet thats not all their padding, nudge, nudge, wink, wink, say no more.

Ha! Don't forget Orson Welles or Ronald Reagan
-- thumbwax, May 10 2002

Or Jason Alexander from Seinfeld fame.
-- RayfordSteele, May 11 2002

Wait a minute...William Conrad (Cannon, Jake and the Fat Man) owned a boat in the slip next to mine; Buddy Ebsen (Beverly Hillbillies, Baranaby Jones), once bought a painting from me; And Ronald Reagan (Actor, SAG President, Governor, US President) was a member of my Church Congregation...I almost met Orson Welles once when he was doing voice-overs and I worked for Foote, Cone and Belding, but I called in sick that day.....Did you guys just pick these names out of a hat?
-- jurist, May 11 2002

Yes, and where do you think that hat came from? Don't even ask. Heh heh...
-- snarfyguy, May 11 2002

Thanks, snarfyguy...For several moments I was sure I was just being paranoid.
-- jurist, May 11 2002

Quite simply, Mephista,a "kit" is an appurtenance to a "kaboodle".
-- jurist, May 11 2002

kit - clothes
-- po, May 11 2002

I was just in Foote's office 2 days ago - They have an incredible amount of awards in Radio Advertising.
-- thumbwax, May 11 2002

"Foote, Cone and Belding" that *has* to be the name of an idea surely?
-- po, May 11 2002

(They used to be kind of semi-important in print and TV, too, Thumbwax...But that was a long time ago,and as encyclopedic as your memory is, TW, I wouldn't expect you to remember very many of the golden days before Chiat.)
-- jurist, May 11 2002

Po...Foote, Cone and Belding was one of the world's major advertising agencies of an age, once upon a time,a long time ago.
-- jurist, May 11 2002

you have to admit though, its one hell of a title for an idea.
-- po, May 11 2002

Po...I'd post it, but I have no idea what it would be about. Rampant Foote diseases? Flocking Road Cones? or Belding radial-belted Automobile Tires that somehow respond to Pavlovian bell-dings?...Advise me. I'm pretty sure that we covered all three at FCB at one time or the other.
-- jurist, May 11 2002

My recollection of them in that sense is on a tangent - I used to manage the distribution of Stock Photography and Illustration books for Tony Stone Images, Blackbook, Scott & Daughters, etc. from between 45,000 to upwards of 75,000 recipients. Some ad agencies got 132 copies, all the way down to some getting 1 or 2 - several times annually, we were the highest volume user of UPS worldwide. Regardless, they even had some shots of overweight strippers.
-- thumbwax, May 11 2002

Somewhere around here I have one of your annual Blackbooks, TW., probably from 1974....An exceptionally well-done paean to the power of graphic arts in adverising, advertising illustration , photography, and , oh yeah, the occasional well-turned phrase.
-- jurist, May 11 2002

Only Black Book I knew of back in 1974 was my Brothers little phone book - he was a Senior, I was in 8th Grade.
-- thumbwax, May 11 2002

>Yes, and where do you think that hat came from?< Castro.
