giant military air-protection net   (+3)  [vote for, against]
This giant net stops rockets and unwanted air traffic

giant lightweight extra strong thin transparent net to be put up temporarily during war or military activity. It\s held up by many small transparent blimps with several powerful drones tied in ready to jump into action.

Once a rocket or enemy aircraft gets entangled the attached passive drones pull that section of the net in, and bring it safely to be inspected or taken in custody.

Good for stopping Chinese aircraft entering the Taiwanese ADIZ. Russian aircraft from entering Ukraine, and Islamic Jihad rockets from leaving the Gaza strip.

Digitally marked holes constantly changing position allow friendly aircraft through the net there and back.

How do the holes change position?

I had a more ambitious idea; for rockets that are powered but not actively guided, it might be possible not to entangle them but to engage them near- tangentially with the inner surface of a smooth curve, which would pancake- flip them back towards whoever had launched them.

It required too much unobtanium, unfortunately, to deploy the giant half-pipes on over-powered gantries.

By pulling and releasing strings like Venetian Blinds. [poc]

Why unobtainium? Google nylon mesh bird netting.

Sorry, just to be clear, the "unobtanium" applied to my idea, which I did not post, and not to this one.

But then technically you are not moving the hole, you are merely closing one hole and opening another nearby.

This seems DARPA-ready, if they haven't already tried it.
