can I have a chunkier version for my school keys? http://www.period1.com/rim/j1465.jpg

Sort of... http://keycaddy.com/
I've seen them that take special keys with no "head"? that make the unit much more compact. Can't find a link at the moment. [half, Oct 04 2004, last modified Oct 05 2004]

Nice illustration, there. Photomosaic-esque.

Category formed criteria for posting "idea" - I like half's link to the keycaddy, as the design resembles a feeler guage, and lends it's elf well to pro+-totype-duction. I wonder to my elf if an old, wide, feeler-gauge wouldn't mind being used for this porpoise. Porpoise is twofold, one to stop keys from digging into leg, or rattling around in general, as the car I and a couple of other 'bakers drive is/are Saab/s, which have ignition in center floormount behind gearshift lever, rather than on side of steering column. Rattle, rattle. Most importantly, to have a compact, useful keepsake of 'bakerness.

Potential concern: increased possibility of breaking key off in locks/ignition?
-- waugsqueke, Mar 09 2003

Make this battery operated and you could have a built in lock de-icer.(+)

Add a screwdriver and you can use it to boost a car if yours isn't playing the game.

Lovely. But one flaw: how many of these would be comfiscated at the airport?
-- RayfordSteele, Mar 10 2003

No knife
-- thumbwax, Mar 10 2003

Yes, and that's not a problem with current keyrings at all.
-- waugsqueke, Mar 10 2003

Funny. I've always imagined the reason we have keyrings is to keep them all in one convenient bundle, so we don't lose any. I'm continually amazed at just how wrong I can be.
-- UnaBubba, Mar 11 2003

So are we, UB. That's why we like having you around so much.

Just kidding of course. I made the same assumption about keyrings that you did.
-- beauxeault, Mar 11 2003

// I have many key-rings, with one key on them. If you manage your keys correctly, then its not a problem. However, with this there is no way to seperate the keys from the Swiss Army Knife section, and so there is no way of avoiding the "eggs in one basket" situation. //

That is, I would suspect, not how most people use keyrings. But to address your concerns, just do the same thing. Have one halfbakeyring for each key.
