standard skin protocol

we need a standard skin protocol that any program can use. winamp and netscape 6 use themes, and so do alot of other programs. wouldnt it be nice to use one skin for all of them? and the OS could handle the skins too. they could be used on the websites you visit too.

Doesn't it just add to the bloatware load if you're not? I'd have thought it would be better as a plugin?

Totally baked for GNOME (and KDE?), too.

I've seen skins for IE too, but never bothered with them. With a browser or whatever, I'm not looking at the interface, I'm looking at the contents.

Winamp is a little different, and I do use one there...

OK, sorry for my ignorance, halfbakery is my one vice. We don't even have games on these toys. They do graphics work, spreadsheets, email and this.
