PA-THET-IC. I don't see how a loser idea like this that will never work gets two corssaints and yet my other ideas that are perfectly workable get many many fish.
Seriously you guys... this is pathetic.

This is a copy of something I posted once which was deleted.
Because I liked the comments so much (particularly the last few) I rescued it from the google cache.

Parity of eyes and legs

An eye for a leg, and a leg for an eye. (+4, -4)

People have 2 eyes and 2 legs.
Spiders have 8 eyes and 8 legs.

Pirates have 1 eye and 1 leg.

coincidence?

//Pirates have 1 eye and 1 leg.// Between them?

--- my face your, Apr 07 2003

[marked-for-deletion] a simple observation does not an invention make. Sorry.

It is funny to consider, though.

--- bristolz, Apr 07 2003

A pirate can never be more than one step ahead of you.

--- reensure, Apr 07 2003

Potatoes aren't legumes but they have eyes.

--- Trodden, Apr 07 2003

Arrrr...

--- Mr Burns, Apr 07 2003

What is this all about? I have two eyes and fours legs (and eight lives) or do I not count?

--- The Kat, Apr 07 2003

Kat: Watch out or Loris might 'adjust' you to fit his mad scheme.

--- supercat, Apr 07 2003

And what of the humble millipede? Eye, there's the rub.

And when pirate eye be smilin'; hide your pieces of eight.

--- lostdog, Apr 07 2003

Insects: 6 legs; 2 compound eyes, 2 antennae; 4 wings (or 2 wings + 2 balancers developed from wings)(or 2 wings + 2 wing-cases developed from wings) (and no, caterpillars have 6 'true' legs and many pairs of claspers that aren't actual legs). Fish: 2 eyes and a big bunch'o'fins all over the place.

On a kind of unrelated but still leg-based tangent - in her later years, my granny had both her legs amputated below the knee. She was (obviously) confined to a wheelchair, and didn't get out much. So my Dad had to do her shoe shopping for her. Being the practical-minded no-nonsense guy that he is, he'd just go into a shoe shop with her spare false legs in a plastic bag, dump them on the counter and say "I'd like a pair of nice shoes to fit these, please."

--- lostdog, Apr 07 2003

And don't forget to dot your eyes and cross your legs.

--- FarmerJohn, Apr 07 2003

Starfish have one eye and, uh, several (or zero, if you call them arms) legs.

--- galukalock, Apr 08 2003

Wow lostdog - thanks for the anecdote.

--- thumbwax, Apr 08 2003

Does this mean I have to shut one eye if I want to be a pirate?

--- oneoffdave, Apr 08 2003

It is usual to turn a blind eye to piracy.

--- Rods Tiger, Apr 08 2003

Just change your handle to [twoeyedave]. No-one will ever know.
