I come from a long line of half-bakers:

On my mother's side I am related to the person that invented the blackboard and coloured chalks.
One of my grandfathers designed a new kind of slide rule and a novel way of swimming.
My dad invented the peak-flow nasal respiratory meter.
I stand on the shoulders of half-baked giants.
