The friend request on Facebook (indeed, every social media site I've seen) could use some major sprucing up. One particular annoyance is that people who are single will often send a friend request to someone they're attracted to, which will be overlooked by that person for a long time. Could be weeks,
months, I've even seen years go by between a friend request being sent and subsequently accepted. The problem is that, while I was single when I sent the request, she took so damn long to get around to viewing it that my relationship status has changed so this woman viewing the request and looking at my profile when deciding to accept it has no way of knowing that I wasn't in a relationship at the time, and thinks I'm a scumbag. Or hell, maybe she doesn't care and accepts the request blindly and then my current girlfriend (or wife) sees this new girl on my profile and thinks I just added her. There are all sorts of ways a misunderstanding like that can cause problems. I might not even remember WHEN I sent that request.
So, I think it would be awesome if there was some metadata captured at the time a request was sent for each friend on your profile, showing who sent the request, when it was actually sent, and what the relationship status of each party was at the time.
