Cat Piano II

Your cat makes beautiful music.

The dampers on the piano strings are programmed to only let the keys in a sequence of a pretty song play, dampening the rest. People can play it too, just hit random keys and only the appropriate ones for the song will play.

Could be a switch you throw an a player piano, might be a pretty easy modification.

You'd also be able to just do this and have beautiful music come out. https://www.faceboo...v=27983204394702558
Could call it the "Player" (with air quotes) Piano [doctorremulac3, Jul 27 2026]

A very different approach. [doctorremulac3, Jul 30 2026]

I believe this may be an original invention in the realm of musical instruments, a rare thing indeed, so [+]

       Thank you sir. (Tips hat)

Could probably also do a guitar version where those things you clamp on the neck where you just push a button to play the chord is automated but you do the strumming. Not sure what the point would be. Could be fun for people who just "sort of" want to play guitar. You'd "sort of" be playing guitar.

       Yes like an Autoharp.

I can see the value in automating the bar presses so you just strum while the machine does the chord progressions. Pointless fun is always a moneyspinner.

I also wonder if just setting this device running (either the piano tune version or the autoguitar/autoharp chord version) would create an interesting whispering sound as the dampers lift off the string allowing them to reverberate very slightly and then stop them again.

Since the system is already there, no reason why you couldn’t play around with it like that.

       Re: link.

Wonder if "Auto Autoharp" is worthy of a new idea post.

Hmm. With the auto autoharp, you actually WOULD be playing because you'd strum when the dampers moved and they'd indicate to you where to strum.

       Double hmm.

This might be really fun for kids. In fact you could have a whole band with these types of instruments. Not autocorrected (which is something that is incredibly annoying, when applied to singing) but just "gated".

Maybe call it "Chord Gating". "Gate Sequencing"? "Gate Modulation"?.

Song Gate. Gate Sequencer. Structure Gate?

       Much potential
