Cheese wheel slice

The perfect shape for the perfect food
  (+9, -1)(+9, -1)

Pizzerias take clumps of dough, and form them into thin cylinders. Cheeseries take clumps of curds, and form them into cylinders roughly the same diameter as pizzas. This cheese is then shredded, carefully weighed, and manually distributed over a pizza crust.

These are silly extra steps. Take an entire cheese wheel, and slice it into thin cylinders. Distribute these to restaurants, where they simply plop a single slice onto a pizza. No fussing with scales, no dreaded cheeseless areas, nowhere near as many cheese particles falling to the floor.

What would happen to the lovely archipelagos of alternating mozzarella and sauce? The sheen of olive oil and pepperoni fat? Please do not bury the basil.

       I might try this.

       No, really.
My wife is perfecting her sourdough pizza crusts, working on her home made sauce and I am playing around with making our own in home mozzarella for our pub. We have two pizza ovens and a place ten minutes away where you can buy whole milk from the dairy.

On a side note; I've talked the little lady into letting me try a stuffed crust pizza consisting of alternating chunks of cheese and pepperoni, which a guy up the street makes, so that your leftover crust is a pepperoni cheese stick.

       ...but I digress. (+)

Hmm, next would come a cylinder of reformed pepperoni. Or bacon. (+)

Thank you, but I prefer my pepperoni unrepentant. [+]

I can't help thinking you'd have similar handling issues to Saran wrap with a slice of cheese that big.

Yes, but think of the effectiveness of throwing it at an infant's head ...

Can't believe this hasn't been done, seems like a no brainer. [+]

One could do the same with rings of cream cheese to go on a bagel, right?

I feel extremely old all of a sudden.

This could very easily be altered to add holes for sauce to seep through. Or pockets of a contrasting cheese.

As for bagels, we might as well make Yet Another Single Purpose Kitchen Gadget: this little device uses a hydraulic cylinder to extrude a ring of cream cheese, while a built-in slicer cuts the perfect thickness.
