and even thousands of internet connected screens all powered by 100% clean renewable energy from Hoover Dam.
4 year degrees designed by the smartest in their respective industries, no need to pay teachers, a few administrators per hundred or so students to help guide the self paced systems that would
be specifically programmed for each individual student.
Take a negative and turn it into an education revolution.
Here's a twist, occurred to me there's be a stigma from Las Vegas University degrees, (So, the roulette wheel landed on PHD eh? Good for you. Can I get a real doctor in here now?) so there would be no Las Vegas University. This would be an accumulation of known universities outboarding to this location. So yes, you could get an accredited degree from Stanford or MIT after 4 years or some part of the course being outboarded at Las Vegas located franchises. Get over the "Sin City" stigma by just being a good location and system.
Would be one of the most stunning cities of education in the world.
https://www.veranda...rchitecture-design/ I'm not into gambling but Las Vegas is a sight to see. [doctorremulac3, May 15 2026]

And then when online learning kills universities...? |
|
| |
I'm hoping that day is coming, but the idea of getting the kids out of the house is still gonna be a thing I think. Compare that to "Hey mom and dad! I'm 18 now! The big day is here! Tomorrow I start 4 years of sitting at a computer in my bedroom to get my degree! Are you as excited as I am?" |
|
| |
I'm thinking what's basically a sleep away camp with AI professors is gonna be a thing eventually. |

In the eighteenth and nineteenth universities worked something like this: the sons of rich men would hang around them, partying, *but* the money from those rich families would achieve two things, namely
1. A small community of nerds could study and experiment in comfort and, if one of them produced something notable, they might dedicate it to one of the rich men.
2. Scholarships could be provided to the brightest sons of poor men so that, instead of staying among the poor and articulating their resentment, they could be co-opted into the ruling class, where they would do less harm. |
|
| |
I'm not saying that universities *ought* to serve these purposes. However, if universities stop serving them (as they will, when they go online), then well-established rich families may look for some other way to get those two jobs done. |

Repurposing Las Vegas now that it's dead in the water is a great idea, but as a University town is far too tame for the halfbakery. Come on Doc - this is a once in a life time opportunity, so what about fencing it off completely and making it a "totally lawless free fire zone" for the gun mad? |
|

OK so the model is "Hey mom and dad! I'm 18 now! The big day is here! Tomorrow I start 4 years of sitting at a computer in a disused gambling hotel in the desert to get my degree! Are you as excited as I am?" |

Clearly you've never been to Las Vegas poc. (link) |

Good point pert, problem solved: |
|
| |
Only poor people with high IQs allowed. |
|

I'd keep the rich out of it. Finance it by only giving courses in proven money making industries that those industries finance. The kids would then upon graduating serve a 4 year term in that industry to pay for their education. They'd be given survival wages until the education was paid off but they'd also be furthering their education by applying their skills to their chosen industry. There'd be no debt, just a work contract and they'd have jobs immediately upon getting out of college. |

That's a late-medieval idea called apprenticeship. |

{picks up mic, checks it for damage} |
|
| |
Oh yea, good point. You've earned a mic drop. |
|
| |
I think mic drops should be done at every onstage discussion at the end of a sentence like when people talking on the radio say "over". |
|
| |
And I thought it was just clumsiness |
