Didgeridoo+Bagpipes

Bringing the world together in music .

Didgeridoo players use circular breathing so they can sustain their sounds. The sound comes from their own lips and vocal cords. Bagpipers inflate the bag to sustain their notes, and the sound comes from reeds in the pipes.

The combined instrument would be an inflatable bag, with a didgeridoo attached in lieu of multiple pipes, and a bypass tube so their mouth sounds can be amplified through the instrument using the bag’s air supply.

Unite the world in their love for both instruments!

I'm struggling to see how this isn't already baked... dubstep.

[kdf], meet [Unabubba]. [Unabubba], say hello to [kdf].

Now you can go off together and try and decide which of you is the good twin and which is the evil twin, although it may be that you're both the evil twin.

Henceforth, we shall refer to you as Doug and Dinsdale. Feel free to nuke Luton whenever you're ready.

Hippo - thanks for the vuvuzela link! I see one of those annos also mentions a bag-kazoo or some such. A talented composer could write a complete symphony incorporating all of these.
kdf, Oct 29 2020

       ...a *very* talented composer...
hippo, Oct 29 2020

John Cage could do it; he could re-score 4' 33" for such an instrument ...

It's about the only thing it should ever be used for ...
8th of 7, Oct 29 2020

An excellent idea, made even more satisfying by its ability to reduce 8th to that of a cowering wreck.
xenzag, Oct 29 2020

Combining the names of Didgeridoo and Bagpipes, you could call it a Badgeridoo, and have it covered in badger fur
hippo, Oct 29 2020

Why not have it also play the trumpet?
tatterdemalion, Oct 29 2020

Why not the trumpet? Only for one subtle distinction; a trumpet is more mechanically complicated. While didgeridoo and trumpet (and kazoo) all amplify and change sounds the musician makes with their own mouth, the trumpet uses valves to change the length of the resonance chamber.

A bugle, then; you don't want to go setting any upper limit to the amount of auditory misery this thing can inflict ...
8th of 7, Oct 29 2020

Don't worry 8th, if we run out of "auditory" misery I'm sure I can add others. I was thinking of founding a music school to teach young children to play all of these. Their hands and joyful faces will be smeared with various sticky foodstuffs, too.

The first recital will be just outside of your estate, next Saturday.
kdf, Oct 29 2020

//all amplify and change sounds the musician makes with their own mouth// - so a kazoo then?
hippo, Oct 29 2020

Yes, I think a kazoo would qualify.
kdf, Oct 29 2020

Obviously it should be called the Didgeridon't...

[2fries], all of them are called didgeridon'ts, if you've ever had to listen to them for any length of time.
UnaBubba, Oct 30 2020

I always thought a didgeridoo and theremin might pair well, given the right score - but not by being combined into one instrument.

I wrote up in detail the complete idea for Flaming Bagpipes and thought I should just check..... and there it is..... someone playing the wonderful instrument with flames shooting out of the drone pipes, just as I had imagined.
xenzag, Nov 02 2020

Xenzag, I’m sure the Unipiper is just some crass imitator ripping off your concept. Did you include a unicycle and a Darth Vader mask in your write- up?
