Dog Soccer Ball Handles (Picture a Caronavirus) Actually Don't. Just Handles, Not Spikes.

Two teams of men and dogs try to get the ball in the other side's net, handles allow dogs to actually grab the ball.

Watching the linked video I think that dogs get soccer. They get hunting in a pack, they get grabbing things with their mouth, they get running faster than their competitors, they get competition in general.

The ball would have soft handles extending all around it that the dogs could grab but would be kicked by the humans as they would in any other soccer game. Picture a Coronavirus, litte dog grabable balls on the end of stalks all around the center ball.

They'd follow instructions from their teammates that might be in code, different for each team. Improperly yelling wrong instructions at the other team's dogs would mean that guy would run out and yell at you waving a card around.

I think the dogs would love it as much as the humans would. That could be pretty cool. It would be the only soccer I'd ever watch.

Goes without saying the dogs would wear their teams uniforms.

Might also do a Frisby version as well.

(Depending on where you live, change "soccer" to "football" as necessary)

I think dogs get running sports. https://www.youtube.../shorts/eQZmUxQ6j_8
So train them to play maybe. [doctorremulac3, Mar 13 2022]

American football should be called "Warball". https://www.youtube...watch?v=aIkqNiBASfI

Seeing by the link that the dogs have issues grabbing a ball, they just bounce around and look cute. Clarifying the new proposal of handles on the ball.

Picture a Coronavirus. They'd grab the small tennis sized balls sticking out on stalks allowing them to grab it and run with it, something they can't do with a fully inflated regular soccer ball.

This allows them to actually secure the ball in their mouth and run with it.

I can see this thing being a regular exibition thing with say, 8 man/dog teams just doing a 15 minute pre game game.

If I were a coach I'd have my team bark three times in unison when they were introduced. (Yes, humans can bark quite well thank you.)

Occurs to me, the soft stalks would would act as brakes to slow down the ball to some extent making it easier for the dogs to catch and grab.

I've always thought American football should be called "Tackleball" to zero in on what's different about it.

       "Warball" might be good. (link)

Although that does sound a little like "warble". Not exactly a word that invokes 300 pound muscle strapped men beating the hell out of each other.

Warble (of a bird) Verb: sing softly and with a succession of constantly changing notes.

       George was the man.

I've always known "American football" as "gridiron". A quick search shows that the "gridiron" is actually the name of the field it is played on (being a grid pattern). Never attempted to watch a game.
As for the idea, are you thinking that the humans only use their feet, or grab the ball the way the dogs can? If it's "humans & dogs all grab", the make the ball huge (1.5m diameter or larger) so it becomes more like a tug-of-war, but still opportunities for rolling etc.
(Not sure Frisbee would work; dogs can't throw one.)

I tried posting Coronavirus Dog Toy a while back and got slammed.

No way? Was it for the utility of the handles or just the design element? If it was just for looks that might have gotten it boned.

I was actually thinking these should just be handles so they DON'T look like a coronavirus. Some people might not have super pleasant memories about that.

I'll change it to handles they grab, not balls. Unfortunately balls would work better but I can see the resemblence turning people off.
