The number of times I've needed to leave my lights on to the point of total battery drain is approximately zero. The number of times I've done so inadvertently is above zero. This dashboard switch would be connected to a voltage check on the battery. If accessories or lights drain the battery to the
extent that starting the car is iffy, it would disconnect the battery, assuring the car can be started even if you've left your lights on.
If you bought one of those cars that breaks things if the battery is disconnected it's your own fault and I have no sympathy for you.

Sounds fascinating - where can I get one? |

My old Chevy truck does this. Many times I will turn the key backwards, crank the radio and go about my outdoor chores so I can have some tunes. It shuts off before the battery can no longer start the truck. My wife's newer Dodge just drains itself dry doing that. |
