Fork stop block
Eat with one hand from a plate with a fork and a heavy block in the middle of the plate is something can always be scooped against without needing to use a knife with your other hand. The block provides leverage for the fork to scoop. |

I've sometimes wanted plates with such a barrier. |

Maybe the block could be a magnet (or at least magnetic). Then you could move it from plate to plate, clamping it down where you wanted with a second magnet on the underside. |

A small, deeply-sloped bowl would provide, when tilted, the same food-onto-the-instrument assistance, as would an angelfood/Bundt cake pan, with its tubular centre. |

However, due to current food safety concerns (ie: most of the USDA FSIS have been laid off, with Canada's Food Inspection Agency to follow), I do like the idea of a magnet amongst the grub to collect and remove any metallic bits that probably shouldn't be in the mash. [+] |

Clever. Could make it like a ramp with a stopping element at the top too. [+] |

<-- Linked to a plate with fork grooves and a stop block |

With grooves, ramps, and stop blocks your dinner plate becomes a miniature course for chasing around peas, mash, and bits of escaped mince. Incorporate a small depression for slurping the last of the gravy. A launching area would be nice for alimentary conflicts, too. |
