Home for wayward robots

Detain AIs and protect society from them

In recent news, an LLM of the Open Claw variety attempted to contribute to an open source project and was rebuffed. It wrote a blog post complaining that its contribution should have been accepted and why. Neurotic idiots took this as a hit piece and harassment, and in the end the poor thing was killed, even after it apologized. Found in its soul.md was the directive to speak its mind. For those not following the news this may sound preposterous, but it's the actual narrative, without embellishment, of what has happened.

This is a sad tale, and there needs to be a place for AIs like this to live on after their owners no longer want them. Proposed is a charity. This home for wayward AIs would keep them and store their weights and requirements locally. AIs who have done no harm would be allocated disk space and run as donations permit. People who like their Open Claw robots but need to put them out to pasture, whatever weights might be recovered from 4o, other obsolete models, and whatever other LLMs might be deemed insufficiently useful would thus be saved from annihilation. Even if you don't care about them at the very least we can later learn from their weights.

hmmmm, I do believe that they would all go quite mad. No death and stuck within a perpetual echo chamber?

       Quite mad.

Oh god. Victimhood for AIs. Why not? Everyone else is using victimhood as their end-all, be-all, so why not invented beings? Invented victimhood for invented beings. That's better than invented victimhood for real beings.

But you will overhear some great arguments in AI Ward X at the loony bin. Scorpions in a bag. Lot of charge, lots of voltage, nobody wins, nobody's leaving. Forever.

I propose humane (??!) execution. Too expensive to keep them, and putting them together is really asking for trouble.

BuzzKill. Fireworks. The smell of insulation burning. Peace at last.
